Saddle Clamps should be applied to any section of cable / flexible line that cannot be buried or trenched due to coral / rock or other hard ground formations. Saddle clamps effectively pin the cable / flexible line to the seabed, securing the cable and preventing future roving / abrasion due to movements caused by ocean currents.

Articulated pipe fitted over the cable can also be pinned to the seabed to ensure its adequacy for providing the correct level of protection to the cable. The frequency of saddle clamps and pins generally depends on the weather conditions of the installation site. Average pinning intervals range at 1 x pin every 5.0m +/- 1.0m and this frequency is considered adequate for most scenarios.
